Fu Qing Quan (傅清泉)- known as James Fu

Fu Qingquan was born in Shanghai in 1971 and is an inheritor of Yang Style Taijiquan. Since he was 5 years old, was taught taichi by both his grandfather Fu Zhong Wen and his father Fu Sheng Yuan. In the 80s he was selected to join the Shanghai Sports Palace, were he was then selected to join the Shanghai Wushu Team and became a professional wushu athlete.

 

By inheriting his family's skills, receiving strict education from his grandfather, father, and scientific training from a professional team, and being talented and hardworking, he skyrocketed to stardom in the world of taijiquan. 

Since childhood, Fu Qingquan often attended martial arts events in various places with his grandfather, including local, provincial and national competitions. These include big achievements such as :- 

1985 - 1986 -1987 – won the Shanghai Yang style Champion for three  consevutive years.

1988 - won the All China National Taijiquan sword competition; and runner up in the form competition

In 1989, he represented the national team in the Sino-Japanese Tai Chi competition and won the Yang Style Tai Chi Championship.

 

In the 1989, he moved to Perth, Australia with his father and founded the Fu Shengyuan International Tai Chi Academy.

In order to promote Tai Chi, he was invited to give lectures in various countries and regions around the world and teach authentic Yang-style Tai Chi. Due to the death of his grandfather, Fu Qingquan gave up his superior living conditions and high remuneration abroad and in 1997 he returned to China to continue his grandfather's unfinished Tai Chi purpose.

 

Since then,  he has worked tirelessly to teach boxing in various parts of China, traveling back and forth from the north to the south of the country, and devotedly teaching authentic Yang-style Tai Chi. In teaching, he is particularly good at combining the theory and practice of Tai Chi, with clear organization, unique and humourous teaching, attracting a lot of students from around the country.

Now he is based in Shanghai and is often invited to teach boxing abroad. He has taught tens of thousands of students. In 1999 he run a Taijiquan series of lectures on the China National TV station - CCTV - were  it reached and touched millions of viewers. 

 

In 2000, Fu Qingquan compiled and published a series of Yang style Taijiquan teaching methods  in book and vcd formats. The publication of this book provides Tai Chi enthusiasts with teaching and training experience and methods at a deeper level. He is one of the the few that promotes Authentic Yang Taijiquan in China with a great knowledge and a passion to share it. 

Fu Qing Quan serves as a consultant or President to many taijiquan associations both in China and abroad. In 1998 the China Wushu Association awarded him the 7th Duan in Chinese Wushu ( being the youngest ever Chinese master to receive this recognition.) In 2005 the Chinese Martial Arts Association gave him a title of Tai Chi Shao Shuai. (太极少帅)
